WELCOME to the Girona Cycling Festival – a cycling crazed week in the heart of cycling Mecca, Girona!

The Girona Cycling Festival offers the perfect opportunity to come and ride bikes on some of the best roads for cycling in the world.

Girona has become a real cycling hype and go-to place over the years and is now home to over 80 professional cyclists. We also take pride in calling it our home and created the GCF to give you the chance to join us for a week and see what all the hype is about!

The week, supported by Bike Breaks Girona Cycle Centre features three events…

The 10.4km Hill Climb is a time trial up famous, local climb Els Àngels and offers the perfect opportunity for Festival goers to test the legs as the opening event of the week. Riders will enjoy the views a top and sit back and relax over the Festival Pasta Party!

The Nocturn twilight criterium is the second event of the Festival and always a big highlight of the week. This is a truly unique event as riders set off at dusk to tackle the streets of Girona’s incredible medieval old town. Cobbles and all! Contestants will have 1 hour to produce their best 5 laps. Finish in style with a post event party in our buzzing Race Village behind Girona’s famous cathedral.

The Girona Gran Fondo is our spectacle event and the perfect end to a fantastic week. 2017 marked the first edition that offered two distance options: the regular 125km route travelling from Girona to the incredible Garroxta region and return or the longer option of 142.6km, which included the additional challenge of iconic local climb, Rocacorba!

‘It certainly is a challenge and some pain and suffering will without doubt occur, but the views and the elation at the top are well worth it. It was paved for the roadies in 2006 and since has been a true test for Girona road cyclists and in particular professional cyclists. You will often find them zipping up and down tackling training efforts and tests, likely travelling a lot faster than the average cyclist!’

Festival week isn´t all about competing! Our main aim of the week is that our Festival participants have a good time and not just riding bikes on Girona’s best roads. To create a nice social atmosphere, we have plenty of fun filled activities and occasions to keep you all busy. Organised daily group rides offering varied distances, pre/post event meals and parties and evening meals at handpicked local restaurants.

Girona is a very special city full of history and incredible Catalan culture. You are sure to be drawn in by the cobbled streets, ancient courtyards and stone facades that lie within the city walls. So, bring the family along too and there will be plenty to do throughout the week!

We hope to see you in June for some more Festivities!
