The culmination of a week of cycling in Girona is the Saturday Sportive.

Again, building on the success of the previous years, we have kept this very popular circuit largely unchanged, however in the reverse direction and with additional feed stations. The beautiful 125km loop will take our entrants on a breathtaking ride through the Garrotxa Volcanic region.

You will also now have the option to forgo an additional challenge and take on local climb, Rocacorba throughout the Gran Fondo. This will be an OPTION and is not compulsory (details below).

Entry to this event is included in our Gold and Silver Packs but if you cannot make it for the whole week you can also book a single entry! See Registration options above.

NOTE: Helmets are mandatory and the use of aero-bars is prohibited.

One of Girona´s most iconic climbs, Rocacorba is coming to the 2017 Girona Gran Fondo. The famous local climb is 13.8km from the base and is deemed a challenge for every rider who takes it on due to its harsh, unforgivable gradient!

Our Gran Fondo entrants will now have the OPTION to take the Rocacorba on during the Gran Fondo, so if you´re up for the challenge, time to start your hill reps!

We will start the Gran Fondo as normal in Girona but in the reverse direction, rolling out together in neutral fashion, with a police escort and closed roads. The neutral section will be approx. 15km through to Banyoles. From this point, the Rocacorberer´s will roll on to the base while the rest of the participants will carry on to the regular route.

Timing will start from the base of the climb and will finish at the top. There will be strictly no racing down and staying on your half of the road will be essential. After carefully descending and returning to the regular route, timing for the Gran Fondo will begin.

So there you have it. If you´re up for that extra battle, we now have it for you! If this is not for you and you´re happy to cruise the flats, do not fear, our regular Gran Fondo will go on as normal.

To get a real taste of the Rocacorba take a look at this great video by the Col Collective starring former professional, Girona based cyclist, David Millar.
