HOW TO FIND US

Girona is located in the Northeast of Catalonia, in Northern Spain and nestled between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea.

Girona is an easy destination to travel to with several airports within reasonable distance. The Girona airport is just a short bus ride away, while the Barcelona and Perpignan airports are alternative options, providing great public transport into Girona via train or bus.

Girona has excellent rail connections to Barcelona and Paris with the high-speed train Renfe, or catch the bus with Sagales.

Our RACE OFFICE is located in the heart of Girona’s old town and next door to the Bike Breaks Girona Cycle Centre: Carrer Mercaders, 16.

The RACE VILLAGE is situated behind the Girona Cathedral and in front of the Arab Baths and just a short walk from the Race Office.

By Car

The old town in Girona is very difficult to navigate through by car, so we recommend that you leave your car in one of the public parking’s and walk into town. Please do not use the GPS to drive into the old town. These narrow cobbled roads aren’t made for vehicles!

Leave the motorway AP-7 at junction 6 (Girona nord) and follow signs for the city centre (centre ciutat). Once you reach the large roundabout next to the Park ‘La Devesa,’ you will catch your first glimpse of the Girona Cathedral and Sant Felix’ church. There are several free parking areas here or if preferred, there are also paid underground carparks.

From here, you can walk into the old town crossing the ‘Pont de Sant Feliu’ foot bridge. After crossing the river, you will arrive in Plaça Sant Feliu square, opposite the famous Sant Feliu church tower. Turn right, taking the street ‘Ballesteries’ away from the ‘River Café’ and continue straight on for 500m. You will soon pass the ‘Creperie Bretonne’ on your left hand side. Keep to the right (straight ahead), leaving the cobbled street and pass the naked lady sculpture on your left hand side. Continue straight for 20m into the small square, where you will find Bike Breaks on the left and the race office next door.

From the Girona train station

Stop your journey at the Girona train station. Buses will also stop off here. Exit the station and turn left . Walk for approximately 5 minutes until you reach the street Santa Eugènia. Here, turn right and continue walking straight ahead. Cross over the street Jaume 1 and then take the street Carrer Nou, straight on to Placa Catalunya.

Follow the Rambla (the main strip lining the river Onyar), away from Plaça Catalunya. After passing the Irish pub, McKiernans on the right hand side and under the arches, take the next right turn down a narrow alley. This will lead you into a into a small square, where you will find us! Directly ahead you should see Bike Breaks and the race office is just next door.

From Girona airport

You can fly to Girona Airport with a variety of different airlines and from many international airports throughout Europe. Ryan air is a favourite, often providing the most affordable flight prices.

From the airport, we suggest taking a short 20 minute taxi ride into Girona. There is also the option to take the Sagales bus which departs from Girona airport every hour on the half, so 7.30, 8.30, 9.30 etc. and is a 30 minute journey, stopping off at the Girona train station and very close to the Girona centre. From Girona to the airport, it departs every hour on the hour.

By bike or foot

Make your way to the popular street ‘La Rambla’, lining the famous river ‘Onyar’ and right in the centre of Girona. Follow the Rambla, away from Plaça Catalunya.

After passing the Irish pub, McKiernans on the right hand side and under the arches, take the next right turn down a narrow alley. This will lead you into a into a small square, where you will find us! Directly ahead you should see Bike Breaks and the race office is just next door.

From Barcelona Airport

Barcelona is a much bigger airport and is connected to a wider range of international airports, so this may be a better option for you.

From Barcelona airport, the best options are the SAGALES bus or the train.

The Sagales bus schedule is quite regular from Barcelona airport during the summer period and goes directly to the Girona train station, just outside Girona’s centre. The cost for a one way journey ticket is €19 and it usually takes several hours, depending on the time you depart and the number of stops on that journey. There is free wifi on the bus and this is the recommended option if you are travelling with your bike. The timetable can be found on the Sagales website.

It is also possible to take the Metro line into Barcelona city from Barcelona Airport T2. If you fly into another terminal, there is a very regular free airport bus to T2. The metro service departs regularly and takes 19 minutes to get to Barcelona Sants train station, where you can then take the next train directly to Girona. Another option is to taxi to Barcelona Sants.

The regular train line journey is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes or take the RENFE high speed train. This is a shorter, 40 minute journey. However, tickets are more costly and it can sometimes be difficult with bikes. If they are packed up appropriately, you will be fine.
